TAWAU: Fire destroyed at least 17 stilt houses in Kg Bangau-Bangau, here, Thursday though no human casualties were reported in the morning incident.

The Fire and Rescue Department said low tide prevented their boats from coming near the burning houses.

The firemen had to wade in knee-deep seawater for about 150 metres from their boats to the houses before they started their firefighting operation.
