PAPAR: Two boys, aged 12 and 13, drowned while swimming during an outing with their family members to search for molluscs in Kinarut, here, Monday.

District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the incident occurred around 3pm at a roadside tributary off Jalan Beringis-Kawang.

He said based on initial investigations, the Primary Five and Six pupils of SK Kawang Papar were searching for molluscs with their mother and grandmother when they decided to go for a swim.

“The women then realised the boys were unconscious in the water,” he said.
