Kota Kinabalu: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick feted media practitioners at the Palace Hotel, here, last Sunday in appreciation of their contributions.
The Penampang MP cum Kadamaian Assemblyman and United Progressive Kinabalu Organization (Upko) President expressed his gratitude for their years of cooperation.
“This event is an appreciation to the media in reporting about the ministry’s programs. I hope that it may foster stronger relations between the media and the ministry,” he said.
It was Ewon’s first engagement with the media fraternity since appointed full Minister, MP and Upko President.
Also present were Secretary General of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Dato’ Sri Suriani Dato’ Ahmad, Sabah Journalists Association President Datuk Mugunthan Vanar, chief editors and bureau chiefs.
There were also representatives for Tekun Nasional, the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), UDA Holdings, the National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN), the Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMa), Bank Rakyat, Pernas, SME Bank and SME Corp.
The ceremony was further enlivened with a singing performance by media representatives including Farizi Morinding representing RTM, Hafiz Mustadi (Astro Awani), Rahim Matnin (Daily Express), Safwan Sawi (TV3), Durie Rayner Fong (The Star), Tumik (Nabalu News), Asfarizam Abdullah (Bernama TV), Vicky S. Matanjang (Information Department), Ammierul Mukminin (TVS) and several others.
More than 90 media practitioners representing 26 mass media and electronic agencies attended the ceremony.
During the event, Ewon also launched his official social media profiles that included Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
