Kota Kinabalu: A headmaster charged with 25 counts of abusing his position for bribes by giving out contracts worth RM35,892.40 to family members, will go trial on Sept 29 this year.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga set the date for Hussin Amid whose case was brought up for mention on Monday.
On the first to 13 counts, Hussin is accused of using his position as the headmaster of a school in Sepanggar by selecting Sien Trading which belonged to his wife to supply learning aid equipment, and purchasing robes, neckties and scroll certificates for graduation ceremony of the school.
On the 14th to 25th counts, he allegedly used his position to choose D’Alma Enterprise which belonged to his brother to supply food for 17 pupils of the school from March to November 2019 and also to supply learning aid equipment for the school.
The offences allegedly took place between Nov 10, 2017 and Oct 31, 2019.
The offence, under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and punishable under Section 24(1) of the same Act, provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine of five times the value of the gratification, or RM10,000, whichever is higher, if convicted.
Hussin who is currently released on a bail of RM10,000 with RM6,000 deposited, was represented by counsel Hamid Ismail.
Meanwhile, A Filipino was jailed four months for entering the State illegally.
Mohd Sarajudin Nasir pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz, to entering the State without any document.
He was arrested on Nov 28, 2022 after failing to produce his identification document to the police.
Upon completing his jail term, the court ordered Mohd Sarajudin to be referred to the Immigration Department for his biometrics data to be recorded before deportation.
