Kuala Lumpur: The Sabah chapter of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is undergoing a restructuring following the departure of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for another party, but it will not be shaken, according to its vice-president Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

Kiandee said he does not see Sabah Bersatu grassroots members quitting the party to join Hajiji who has taken over the dormant Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Utusan Malaysia reported today.

“The grassroots leaders at the branch level are still strong.

“I don't see any more leaders leaving the party, most of them remain loyal to us,” he was quoted as saying.

Hajiji led a mass walkout of Sabah Bersatu last December, triggering a political crisis in the East Malaysian state as the party was a part of the state ruling coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Kiandee said Sabah Bersatu is now undergoing a revamp to replace the divisional leaders who followed Hajiji.

The Beluran MP added Sabah Bersatu will hold a branch meeting between July 1 and August 31 followed by a section meeting on October 7 before its general assembly in November.

Hajiji, who is chairman of GRS, had announced that he will be leading Gagasan Rakyat on January 29.
