Expand the ‘Menu Rahmah’ initiative to Sabah: Junz

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan (Warisan) on Thursday lauded the “Menu Rahmah” initiative by the Federal Government and urged the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-led (GRS) State Government to expand the initiative to the State.

Warisan Vice-President Datuk Junz Wong said “Menu Rahmah” is definitely a good initiative by the Federal Government to offer consumers more dining options and lower the cost of living for those struggling to cope.

“The initiative has received great response in West Malaysia, even the M40 and T20 consumers are flooding participating outlets to have lunch for just RM5. How often do you hear of RM5 meals nowadays? Even ‘economy rice’ (menu) costs more than that.

“But very unfortunately, this initiative is almost unheard of or unseen in Sabah. This is despite the cost of eating out in Sabah being much higher than in West Malaysia. I think Sabahans would definitely want to have lunch for just RM5,” said the Tanjung Aru Assemblymen, in a statement.

“Menu Rahmah”, an initiative under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), was launched last Tuesday offering RM5 meals for lunch or dinner at nearly 15,000 food premises nationwide.

The menu comprises a balanced meal that includes rice, a choice of protein, either chicken or fish and vegetables, which is being offered to those affected by the current increase in the cost of living.
