TAMBUNAN: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said the change of name of his Ministry (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries) to Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry (MAFFI) will include value changes from start to finish.

He said his Ministry is known not only for producing agricultural products but also processing downstream products.

“With the passage of time, we will change our government from a conventional to a government that promotes digital economy and technology and will develop our economy to the green economy,” he told reporters after officiating the district-level Chinese New Year Festival at Pisompuruan Square, here.

The name change also involved the Ministry of Industrial Development, which is now known as the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship.

Jeffrey said the name changes for the two ministries were emphasised together and coordinated with the ministries at the Federal level.

On his appointment as Chairman of the State-level Kaamatan Festival, Jeffrey said the Kaamatan celebration will be held as usual but maybe this year it will be even more lively post-pandemic.
