Kota Kinabalu: Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that help the poor are complementing the Government’s efforts to improve the welfare of the people, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said this was because improving the wellbeing of the people was one of the state development agendas under the Sabah Maju Jaya Roadmap, which aims to boost the development of the people and the State.

“Programmes implemented by NGOs, including the ‘Jom Balik Sekolah’ initiative by the Society of Hope Sabah, have helped poor children quite well, complementing the Government’s efforts through the Sabah Maju Jaya agenda.

“In fact, the concept of Malaysia Madani espoused by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also focuses on efforts to improve the quality of services to the people,” he said at the Society of Hope Sabah’s Chinese New Year charity dinner in Wisma Hakka, here, Friday.
