Large-scale CNY joy in Tambunan yearly: Jeffrey

TAMBUNAN: Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan will make the Chinese New Year Festival an annual event in the district  like other festivals celebrated in the State.

At the Lantern Festival held at SJKC Yuk Min in September last year, he once said that Chinese New Year was never been celebrated on a large scale here.

"I promise to elevate this Chinese New Year celebrations to the district level as we celebrate it today. We will do it every year like the Kaamatan Festival and other festivals," he said while inaugurating the District-level Chinese New Year Festival at Pisompuruan Square here.

Jeffrey, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, said through the festival, cooperation can be seen through the participation of the Chinese community in the State and Federal governments, at the Parliament and district level through the Chinese New Year Festival which is held every year.
