Enough seafood for Sabah’s needs: Jeffrey
Jeffrey said the recently established Sabah State Food Security Cabinet Committee helmed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the Sabah State Food Security Task Force Committee managed by his Ministry, which was approved last year, will assure that Sabahans are fed.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is strong in seafood but can do better, says State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan.

Reiterating Sabah’s 100 per cent (fisheries) self-sufficiency levels (SSL), he said the State is ready to take on the high demand from the expected return of tourists this year, without the imposition of the seafood tax.

“I believe we can meet the food requirement for tourists. We have been encouraging the industry’s growth and requested for the tax to be delayed for six months to a year, until we are fully ready,” he said.
