Keningau: An early childhood education student from Keningau Vocational College, Rissy Rachell Richard, won the “Art Marathon in France” – comic book video category – on Feb 5.

“The student has written and drawn a comic story entitled ‘Roses’ which symbolised the main message of her work.
“The comic was about a teenager who felt like she was being neglected by her family at home and her classmates at school,” said the College Head of Research and Innovation, Dr Sirhajwan Idek.
He said the story, which had its own twist, portrayed the rising concern on mental health, particularly among youths.
College Director, Christine Stanislaus Kinsik, strongly supports such activity where students produce their own literary and visual works since it can hone their talents and help them express their creativity.
She hoped it would be carried out as a permanent fixture in learning institutions.
