KENINGAU: The Minister of Community Development and People’s Well-Being Datuk James Ratib urged the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (JHEWA) to be more committed to the problems faced by women, especially in rural areas.

He said various problems faced by women, for example the destruction of households, mostly occur in rural areas but are rarely reported to the authorities.

“Most cases of violence happen in rural areas and women are afraid to report because they don’t know who they are reporting to,” he said when closing the Santuni Wanita Outreach Programme for Tambunan, Bingkor and Liawan constituencies held at the Sabah Handicraft Centre hall here on Friday.
