Kota Kinabalu: The Beaufort Hospital is open to work up with any company or NGO through corporate social responsibility programmes in fixing its pothole ridden compounds as a short term solution.
Its Director, Dr Ridwan Hashim said, the issue was due to an overload of patients. He was responding to a public complaint in the Daily Express on Monday.
“From 2020 to 2021, the Beaufort Hospital received 137 tonnes of gravel for maintenance work on its parking lots.
“The Hospital has also been recipient to a few Mesra Rakyat projects tabled by the Beaufort and Sipitang MPs.
“In 2022, the parking space upgrade from temporary to permanent status was proposed.
“Currently it still is in the condition appraisal phase which will soon be finalised by concessioner Sedafiat to the State Health Department.
“Our next move would be to apply for routine maintenance funding for the project before handing it over to Sedafiat according to the concession agreement,” he said in a statement.
He said the hospital, dubbed the lead cluster hospital in the State’s West Coast, had received referred patients from Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and even Lawas in Sarawak.
“Hospital Beaufort will soon become a specialist hospital offering at least 10 specialist services. This has become a factor in the increase of the number of patients, subsequent potholes and limited parking space.
“However, the hospital management is trying its best to look for a solution to overcome this problem,” he said.
