Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s dive tourism is earning more than RM500 million in receipts yearly and this eco-tourism jewel needs protection from environmental degradation, particularly blast fishing. From almost zero divers in 1983, Sabah has today some 75,000 divers annually, which is set to grow, if this high-value tourism product is properly managed.
For Sabah’s MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry to earn RM500 million in tourism revenue, more than 75,000 foreign attendees would be needed.
