Ranau-born UMS don to be first Malaysian to conduct winter research in Antarctica

Kota Kinabalu: A Ranau-born Universiti Malaysia Sabah don is set to be Malaysia’s first scientist to conduct winter research in Antarctica.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today congratulated Prof. Dr. Justin Sentian, saying it is a proud moment for all Sabahans as Prof. Justin will also be flying the Sabah flag, alongside the national one, for the whole duration of his six-month research.

The research programme will begin March 15 at the Professor Julio Escudero Base Station at King George Island, Antarctica.

“It is momentous and I am sure all Sabahans and Malaysians will be proud of Prof. Dr. Justin Sentian. We wish him every success,” said Hajiji after handing over the State flag to Prof. Justin at Menara Kinabalu, near here, today.
