PENAMPANG: Three people died in a head-on car collision near Kampung Nambazan along the old Papar road, here, Sunday night.

Penampang Police Chief DSP Mohd Haris Ibrahim said a car had entered the opposite lane resulting in the 11.10pm crash. 

"Both cars were badly damaged...a boy found inside the wreckage only sustained minor injuries," he said in a statement today.

The bodies of the three males, aged 17 to 58 years, were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post mortem.

"Investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death," said Ibrahim.
