Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) collected RM2.1 billion in tax revenue as targeted last year.

Its Director Mohd Nasir Deraman said levies from palm oil, petroleum and also domestic activities such as sales and service tax, as well as activities from Sepanggar Port, were the biggest contributors.

“JKDM is set to collect revenue and in the beginning of this year it was given a projection based on the economic situation.

“At the initial stage, it is quite low compared to last year which is RM1.6 billion for the Sabah Zone, including the Federal Territory of Labuan,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Istana Seri Kinabalu, Tuesday.

Earlier, the President of the Former Sabah College Students Association (OSCA), Pangiran Putra Pangiran Omar, and his entourage also paid a courtesy visit to introduce the new OSCA Committee for the 2022/2024 Session, as well as informing Juhar of the development of the association as patron.

He also informed that a charity dinner to raise funds to build the OSCA building in Likas will be held on October 28.
