SANDAKAN: A total of 156 pupils from SK Nunuyan Laut received school supplies from Sandakan Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek during the First Day at School Programme, here, Tuesday.The aid was donated by KK Auto Dealer.
The programme is jointly organised by the Sandakan Police and the school to help students from disadvantaged families.
The aid included bags, books and stationeries for the students. The aid handing over was witnessed by SK Nunuyan Laut Headmaster Mohd Busrah Nordin.
According to Busrah, the programme is held in conjunction with the Police Day celebration and the reopening of the school session, adding that this is the first such collaboration held during his 23 years tenure at the school.
“We are quite thrilled, and our pupils are also very happy to receive this donation,” he said, adding that the assistance provided is especially important for those from B40 families.
“Our students are ecstatic. Looking at the current circumstances, products prices are rising, and the bulk of our students are from the B40 group,” he said.
