Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta) proposed that the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) be extended to accommodate 10 more bays in anticipation of the surge in arrivals the next few years.“We also proposed for a multi-storey car park with a mall and shopping arcade, restaurants, hotel, clinics, reflexology, SPA and transit lounge facilities as KKIA is the second busiest airport in Malaysia,” said its Chairman Datuk Seri Winston Liaw.
There was a suggestion that the airport be relocated to Kimanis but there was a public outcry that this would only be feasible if there was a LRT link to ensure passengers don’t miss their flights.
