Kota Kinabalu: Mental health concerns increased by 30 per cent following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, said Bukit Padang Mesra Hospital Director Dr. Ahmad Qabil Khalib.
“As service providers in the Ministry of Health, we see a clear increase in the number of people coming in for psychiatric treatment,” he said at the hospital's car wash opening, here, Wednesday.
According to Dr. Ahmad, the increase indicates that the stress experienced by people during the pandemic, as well as the present economic challenges, have contributed to the development of mental illness.
