KOTA MARUDU: Fire destroyed 10 stalls, including one servicing and repairing sewing machines and tools, in Kampung Langkon, near here, on Monday.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
He said 12 firefighters along with machinery, including a tanker and a utility vehicle, were deployed to the location some 13km away after receiving an emergency call at 3.53pm.
“The 10 stalls were already 70 per cent burnt when the firefighters arrived and they managed to control the fire at 4.37pm and extinguish it using two streams of two 200-foot fountains of water sourced from a tanker and fire hydrant.
The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II Jakri Bahar ended at 5.45pm after ensuring there were no other hazards.
The cause and estimated loss are still under investigation.
