Kota Kinabalu: Former Chief Minister Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat said although 17 years had passed since the Mazu (Goddess of the Sea) statue project was abandoned, he will leave no stone unturned to ensure its completion once the widely anticipated green light is given by the State Cabinet.

He said it would be his contribution to boosting the State’s tourism coffers and improving the livelihood of the people in his hometown, Kudat.

Chong said already some RM3 million was spent on the materials and reckons it would take at least six months to complete with the help of master craftsmen from China.
