Menu Rahmah stalls a big hit
Rusydih sells a variety of nasi lemak, like with chicken, fish, squid, prawns, eggs or salted fish for RM4 and RM5 for nasi lemak with hati buya (lungs) clam petai (bitter beans), anchovies petai, squid petai, prawn petai or spiced chicken.
Kota Kinabalu: Visitors to the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar (BRR) at Lintasan Deasoka here are flocking to stalls offering Menu Rahmah. Nasi lemak seller Rusydih Joseph, 26, said the response has been encouraging since the sale of the BRR menu was introduced early in the Ramadan month, except when it rains.

“Even before we started selling at the bazaar here, we have been selling at this price at our shop (restaurant) and now we have 14 dishes on our menu, including nasi lemak,” he said.

On Monday, Sabah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Director Georgie Abas was quoted as saying that Lintasan Deasoka was one of the three BRR locations providing affordable meals in Sabah, with the other two being the Ketiau Juara Sport Arena in Putatan and a stall in front of the Sabindo Plaza in Tawau.

Kuih seller, Hariani Letak, 35, who sells 11 types of Menu Rahmah kuih, said her delicacies have always been well-received and are usually sold out before it’s time for breaking fast.

Hariani, who has been selling kuih at Ramadan bazaars since 2016, said she also makes her own kuih which she sells to generate income outside the Ramadan month.

“I have been selling kuih at a reasonable price, that way everyone can taste them...,” said the mother of three.

Civil servant Mohd Nor Hafeez Abd Rahman, 33, who is one of many visitors to the bazaar, said he is very satisfied with the cleanliness of the menu Rahmah provided by traders at the Ramadan bazaar.

“Based on my observation … cleanliness is of utmost importance and so is the food preparation which they have done well by following procedures and also the cheap prices,” he said.

Adam Ruhimin, 50, who works in the private sector, feels that the sale of the menu Rahmah during the month of Ramadan would help the B40 group purchase affordable food for breaking fast.

He said the provision of Menu Rahmah during Ramadan is timely and will help the low-income group to buy food at affordable prices at a time when the price of other raw materials has gone up.

“Now everyone can enjoy the food at the Ramadan bazaar. We support menu Rahmah, the more food they offer, there will be more choices for us when we break fast,” said Adam, who bought three packets of nasi lemak.
