BEAUFORT: Otai Team Weston will be organizing a motor boat fun race on the eighth day this Aidilfitri scheduled to fall on 29 April (Saturday).
Its Chairman, Usof Kalong, told Daily Express on Friday that event would be held at the Weston River.
He said many attractive prizes in form of cash and trophies are to be won for each category.
Among them are the 15-horse power open, “bidar” 15 horse power normal, racing, fiberglass, and “oprit”.
“It is open to all boat racers whether from Weston itself or those from the Federal Territory of Labuan, Sipitang, Brunei and Sarawak.
“Additionally, there are two special categories for Westoners only that are racing and bidar,” he said.
Usof expects crowds to flock the Kampung Laut Weston jetty and all along the river banks up to Kampung Hulu to watch the exhilarating races.
“We want to promote Weston as a tourist centre with the event. Last year, Team Otai managed to attract many racers from various districts, states and countries,” he added.
He said they had notified Police and Fire and Rescue to be on standby in case of unforeseen events.
