CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor hoped the media including national broadcaster RTM would continue to help convey information and the Government’s agenda to the people, including the development initiative, Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ).

“The media plays an important role, especially RTM, in conveying the Government’s development agenda to all corners of the State, so that the people know what the Government is doing and their development plans.

“I hope RTM, whether through radio or television broadcasts, continues to provide information contained in SMJ’s direction, what has been and is being implemented. We want all citizens to know what information is contained in this SMJ.

“The SMJ agenda is now on the right track to bring development to the people and the state since it was launched in March 2021. We have received a lot of foreign as well as domestic investment, over the past two years,” he said.

Hajiji said the Government never stops to bring more development to the people and the State.

“Just this week, I witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Linaco Group and Sawit Kinabalu for the construction of an Integrated Coconut Processing Plant worth RM200 million in Langkon, Kota Marudu.

“In addition, Sabah has also realised the acquisition of a 50 per cent participation interest in PSC Samarang by signing an agreement with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB), on Friday.

“This is one of our ongoing efforts to ensure more development is brought to Sabah. I feel excited to see the State Government’s efforts to bring progress and development to this state and the people have shown progress. This is part of the evidence that we can feel and be proud of,” he said when officiating the Sabah Berselawat Program in conjunction with the 77th RTM Day Celebration in Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Kota Kinabalu, on April 1.

On the Sabah Berselawat Programme 2023, Hajij said the programme could increase knowledge and understanding of Islam.

He said the auspicious event is also in line with the concept of Malaysia Madani which aims to inculcate unity that will benefit human development, economic and social aspects.

Therefore, he said, Muslims should take advantage of such religious ceremonies. “I want more prayer ceremonies to be held in the State to increase knowledge and understanding of Islam.

“The programme can also inject enthusiasm and give strength to us as Muslims in our daily lives.

“Hopefully, this inaugural event will be an annual event held by SABAHfm, especially during the month of Ramadan, so as to encourage more similar religious events to be held among the Muslims.”
