Sabah’s need for basic infrastructure

Kota Kinabalu: In Sabah, 45.7pc of economic activity is taking place in the shadows – and no, we’re not talking about drug smuggling or other illegal commerce but the informal employment sector.

High levels of informal employment are usually associated with lower Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and higher poverty rates.

Sabah continues to face persistent challenges related to poverty and has struggled to improve the living standards of its people due to various factors, including lack of access to basic infrastructure.
