Kuala Lumpur: Lawyers acting for Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said they have yet to receive the writ and statement of claim from plaintiff Global Royalty Trading SAL who are seeking damages of US$14.57 million (RM67.46 million) for missing jewellery.

In a statement this evening, Messrs Reza Rahim and Rajivan urged the media not to speculate on the matter as it would amount to subjudice.

“Our client has yet to be served with the writ and statement of claim in this matter. At this juncture, our client would like to state that a similar suit was previously filed by the same party only for it to be withdrawn at trial before the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

“Our client shall vigorously resist and defend the suit filed against her. Therefore the media and public should not make any speculative statements on this matter as the same may amount to being sub-judice of the legal proceedings and or defamatory to our client,” they said.

Earlier today, it was reported that Global Royalty were seeking damages for 43 pieces of jewellery allegedly missing while in the possession of the former prime minister’s wife.

Based on previous court documents, the jewellery pieces were said to have been shipped to Rosmah in February 2018, prior to the 14th general election (GE14).

The jewellery was among various items seized by the police from the premises belonging to Obyu Holdings Sdn Bhd at Pavilion Residences and Jalan Duta during home raids in May 2018, which were allegedly linked to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal.

However, they were not among the items confiscated by the police in the May 2018 raid.
