Two killed, two injured in Jalan UMS mishap
KOTA KINABALU: Two died, while two others were injured in a Jalan UMS accident near Kampung Rampayan, here, Tuesday.

District police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the 8.55am incident happened when a 46-year-old motorcyclist hit a 56-year-old pedestrian.

"The rider was travelling from Indah Permai towards 1Borneo to send his girlfriend to work," he said in a statement.

"At the scene, a pedestrian with her granddaughter suddenly crossed in front of the motorcyclist's path and caused the rider to be unable to avoid and hit the victim.

The collision caused the motorcyclist and his girlfriend to fall onto the shoulder of the road.

The pedestrian and the motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pillion rider and the pedestrian's granddaughter suffered minor injuries and were treated in the hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
