RM20k each to 12 schools

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 12 schools here were selected to receive donations towards empowering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Minister of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (KSTI), Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, said the donations were aimed at helping the Science Laboratory Upgrade Programme for secondary schools and the establishment of a Science Corner for primary schools in the State.

“This year, a total of 30 selected schools received donations through the programme amounting to RM20,000 each for that purpose.

“It is hoped that KSTI’s objective in bringing students interested in Science, Technology and Mathematics subjects will be achieved through this assistance,” he said when met by the media at KSTI’s Ramadan Ihya Majlis at Wisma Bandaraya near here on Monday.

At the event, Arifin presented donations of RM20,000 each to 12 schools including SMK Membakut, SMK Membakut II, SMK St Patrick Membakut, SMK Pengalat Papar, SMK Tenghilan Tuaran, SMK Putatan, Kota Kinabalu Sixth Form College, SK Saga- Saga Membakut, SK Kg. Bambangan Membakut, SK Pekan Membakut, SK Pomotodon Inanam and SRK Sacred Heart Kota Kinabalu.

PitchBorneo 2023 Programme from Sabah State Baitulmal Corporation (PBNS).

Its Chief Executive Officer Dr Awang Faisal Assyiffa Awang Rahim presented the donation to KSTI Permanent Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman.

Also receiving donations from PBNS are the USIA Mosque in Kota Kinabalu City and the As-Syatibiyah Al-Quran Tahfiz Center in Kota Kinabalu.

In attendance were Assistant Minister of KSTI Datuk Harun Durabi, State Government Mufti Datuk Bungsu Aziz Jaafar, Chairman of PBNS Datuk Dr Omar Raisul As Salam Syah Datuk Sulaiman Omar, Chairman of Sabah Net Sdn Bhd Datuk Azaman Ruslan and Deputy Chairman of Muis Malai Ali Malai Ahmad.
