KUNAK: The Kunak District Council will increase the frequency of garbage and solid waste collection as it tends to increase during the festive season. Its Executive Officer Mohd Nazri Pintal said excess rubbish is typically seen overflowing out of garbage bins either in residential areas or around business premises during this time.
“Garbage collection will continue to operate even during the Hari Raya holidays,” Nazri told Daily Express.
Nazri said currently four garbage trucks are operating to unload garbage at disposal site located at Pangkalan Madai.
“The four operating trucks comprise two compactor trucks and two RORO (Roll-On Roll-Off) trucks,” he said.
The garbage disposal centre in Pangkalan Madai is located about 15km from Kunak Town. The frequency of collection is also increased to three trips a day for each compactor truck, while the frequency of collection is increased to six trips a day for RORO trucks.
Meanwhile, a Daily Express survey at Kunak Plaza and Sapang Building business premises found that cleaners were carrying out tasks as usual by ensuring that overflowing rubbish were not scattered too far from the bins.
