RANAU: An accident involving four vehicles – a Toyota Vigo, a Perodua Axia, a Perodua Alza and a Toyota Vellfire – left several of 16 individuals, including two senior citizens and a three-year-old, injured, on Monday.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened at Jalan Kauluan Kundasang (uphill stretch towards Mesilou) at 1.30pm.
He said at least four victims sustained minor injuries, two suffered broken arms and five, including the three-year-old, escaped injuries, while the status of the others was not known.
“The location is a sharp bend and a steep climb that are dangerous for small vehicles, especially those carrying a full load of passengers.
“We received a call through the MERS999 line and a group of six personnel led by operations commander Becket Gumat was rushed to the scene.
“There were four victims in each vehicle. The victims were given initial treatment by an EMRS team at the location and were sent to the hospital by the public before the arrival of the ambulance,” he said.
