TAMBUNAN: Tambunan Gagasan Rakyat Division Chief Datuk Victor P. Paut and Sabah’s acquisition of 25 per cent equity in Petronas Chemicals Fertilizers Sabah Sdn Bhd (PCFS), giving State-owned SMJ Sdn Bhd (SMJ) a stake in PCFS’s world-scale ammonia and urea production facilities is very laudable.

“We in Tambunan trully appreciate the measure taken by the Hajiji administration,” he said.

Chief Ministry Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the largest acquisition was part of the Commercial Collaboration Agreement (CCA) signed between the State Government and Petronas on December 7, 2021 to enhance collaboration between the two parties in developing the pil and gas industry in Sabah.

On the proposed establishment of the Borneo Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) as announced by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan, Victor said it also shows how our present local leaders are concerned about local issues that could help level-up Sabah and improve the standard of living of the Sabahans in the near future.

It coincided with providing better services to passengers as well as helping to improve the aviation industry in Sabah and Sarawak. He agreed that it is high time that BCAA establish the Borneo aviation authority to help overcome the problem of high airfares in Sabah and Sarawak.

“This problem has dragged on for a long time without a concrete solution from the relevant parties,” he said.

“Thus, Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan welcomes the call for the establishment of BCAA to overcome the problems that have arisen, in addition to ensuring that better facilities can be offered to passengers,” he said.

Early this week, Jeffrey proposed the establishments of the Borneon Civil Aviation Authority to regulate the aviation industry in Sabah and Sarawak.

He said it was high time for BCAA to be established, especially after reports of various issues and delays in Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia’s (CAAM) handling of aviation matters in Sabah.
