SANDAKAN: A group of residents of Kampung Tinusa 2 Sandakan held a public meeting to express the problems they face regarding the unstable and rationed water supply and narrow roads in the village.

One of the residents, Jefry Ambo, said this problem had been going on for a long time and was affecting the surrounding residents.

“Various proposals and requests have been made to overcome the problem of the congested roads in this village, but it was almost 20 years ago, and no solutions was found,” he explained.

“We hope the state and federal governments will help us and take action on matters, listen to our problems and take care of our problems,” he added.

He explained that notices regarding water disruptions were posted by the concerned party but the rationing made it very difficult for the residents to carry out their daily activities including this festive season.

He added that the villagers were desperate to get water supply and the festive season is very critical.

Therefore, they hoped that, if possible, the State Government could repair the old, leaking, and broken pipes.

Regarding the heavy traffic in the village which had no other alternative road, he explained that the committee of the village mosque took the initiative to request the help of Rela members to control the route and the mosque issued its own allocation.

In the meantime, the Head of the Village, Norsidi Lumby, said the villagers held the gathering, among other things, to express what the villagers had been feeling all this time, especially during the festive season.

“We hope that someone is willing to help our village because we have been facing water, road and electricity problems for more than 20 years,” he added.

Previously, the leaders had helped but the effort had not reached the best solution.

In addition, since there was no Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK), it was difficult for residents to communicate the problems and all of these matters rest on his shoulders.

In the meantime, another resident, Ashmar Labadu, said that since he lived here for more than 20 years, the problem often occurred between the last five and six years and troubled the residents.

“People should be happy to celebrate Hari Raya but we are always worried and concerned about the lack of water and congested roads,” he said.

He said if the residents had a storage tank they could still survive but if the residents did not own one, it would have a great impact on them.

Kampung Tinusa 2 Sandakan has 2,002 houses with an estimated population of 5,000.
