Kota Kinabalu: OMG Ampakur clinched the Chillout Kaamatan Double Darts Challenge title held at the Chillout Cafe and Bar, Kepayan Point on Saturday.
The pairing of Mark Jumin and William Chong brushed aside Paamad SE (Stephen Saimun/Evan Yuntan) 4-1 in the best- of-seven final to take home the RM2,500 winning cash prize with RM1,200 to the runners-up.
Earlier in the semi-finals, the champions defeated OMG Bambarayon (Jerry Lojitan/Aganisus Bandang) 3-0, while Paamad SE edged Sumundu 2 (Rodolfo Enriquez/Randal Gland) 3-1, and the losing semi-finalists each received RM600.
A total of 41 teams from as far as Brunei took part in the one-day competition co-organised by DC Events and Chillout Cafe.
Its director Dominic Andrew said the large turnout indicated the tight unity and support among the darts community in the State.
“It was a very impressive and outstanding turn-out. DC events are always in support in co-organising darts events with venue owners and assisting organisers in promoting their events.
“This is not merely about the prize money but also to showcase the high level of sportsmanship of our local darters, and we would like to express our sincere thanks to teams from Brunei and also from other districts in the State,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chillout owner Rodney Labunda thanked the participating teams and DC events.
“This is our first dart event and we are pleased with the number of participants. We plan to organise more similar events in the future and we are hoping for the continuous support.”
