LABUAN: LABUAN: PKR Chief here Samsudin Sidek urged the Federal Territories Department to speed up the appointments of village heads (ketua kampong) as the post had been long vacant and is not helping the image of the new Anwar-led Unity Government.Simsudin said “Whenever I go I am asked on why the Pakatan Harapan was dragging on these appointments and I had no answer, the department should not consider the issue of Ketua Kampong was a petty matter as these heads were traditionally recognised as the village leaders and useful to the villagers in many ways.
He said Ketua Kampongs rendered 24-hour service and were responsible in enforcing harmony and peace in the village besides serving as an important communication channel between the village and agencies.
