Kota Kinabalu: Limbahau Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth Chief Steve Johnny Mositun urged the party’s young members to strengthen their collective voice by expanding their political knowledge.
“Youths want to be heard, they want to be given opportunities, and having a political platform is the solution to ensure their voices are heard and given more space to move forward,” he said recently at the Limbahau PBS Annual General Meeting held at the Mositun Multipurpose Hall in Sungkadon/Novoung.
He said the mindset that politics is just for the elite and those with experience must change.
“As long as we are oblivious to the importance of knowledge and political engagement, the hierarchical structure of politics in which only certain people are allowed to participate will continue.”
“The PBS offers no luxury, but it does provide the opportunity to fight for people’s rights, and bringing the voice and aspirations of youths has been consistent since the party’s inception in 1985.
Having a collective voice is thus important,” he said.
He believes that youths should be exposed to politics at an early age because it is their right, so that by the time they reach the age of 18, they would understand their role and be able to decide who to vote for while also shaping a better Sabah.
Meanwhile, the Limbahau PBS AGM was officiated by Central Youth Deputy Head (Red Quota) Louis Lai who represented Central Youth Head Dr Christopher Mandut.
