RANAU: The police helicopter unit sprang to action recently to investigate a collision in Kg Mansalu that will normally take seven hours by road.
They reached the scene in 35 minutes.
Ranau District Police Chief, DSP Simiun Lomudin said, they are always ready whether in town or the hinterland.
“People in this district do not need to worry because the police are always aware of the current security situation.
If the incident area is too far away, we will seek the help of certain units in the PDRM to facilitate our assignment,” he said when commenting on the assignment by the Air Operations Team (PGU) of the Police Di Raja Malaysia (PDRM) Sabah Contingent, recently.
The task was to inspect and take pictures of the scene of a fatal accident involving a four-wheel drive car that killed a nine-year-old girl.
He said, cooperation from the Sabah PDRM air unit greatly helped the investigating officer to reach the location and carry out the investigation.
“There are rural areas that are quite isolated in this district. With the Sabah Police Air Unit Team, every complaint from the local community related to the Ranau PDRM agency will be carried out as best as possible,” he said.
The Sabah PDRM Air Unit helicopter operated by Supt Nazarudin bin Husein and ASP Gevensri Baskran has brought two senior officers from IPD Ranau namely ASP Helvin Ribus and Insp Syaurin Suhurani to carry out duties in Kg Mansalu.
