Kota Kinabalu: Mutiara GRS will intensify and diversify its programmes at the grassroots level to benefit the people, said its President and wife of the Chief Minister Datin Seri Datuk Juliah Salag.
“As wives of State elected representatives, we must play our role in helping the people in our respective constituency, especially the women folk.”
She said in her adjournment speech during Mutiara GRS’ Special Second Annual General Meeting at Rumah Mutiara GRS here, last Saturday.
Congratulating the newly-elected committee members of the welfare association of wives of State assemblymen for the 2023-2025 term, Juliah urged all members to muster efforts in implementing more charity programmes for the people.
“I believe programmes that empower women in the rural areas can be done through various skill-orientated programmes for women and housewives.
“With these skills, they gain knowledge and help improve their respective families’ economic well-being.
“However, in our efforts to help other people, I hope all members will also continue to gain knowledge and skills in all fields. I want all Mutiara GRS members to do so in order for us to continue moving forward.
“But, each planning needs conformity and support from all, without which it will not be possible for Mutiara GRS to bringing change,” she said.
Earlier in her opening speech, Juliah informed that various activities some in collaboration with the private and public organisations have been implemented since Mutiara GRS was officially registered in April 2021.
“I believe this has given us the opportunity to create a work network and contribute our service to the community while fostering closer relations and cooperation among members of Mutiara GRS,” she said.
Juliah wants to see members continue their ‘turun padang’ activities to feel the pulse of the rakyat and know their problems, particularly those in rural areas.
Through this approach, Mutiara GRS can assist leaders and elected representatives by contributing ideas on ways to help enhance the living standards of the community in their respective constituency, she said.
