PARTI Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan refuted claims by certain political leaders that the State Government is unstable.
According to him, the support of the people’s representatives for the State Government is increasing and has almost reached 50 and more than half of the assemblymen in Sabah.
He stressed that the State Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, is becoming more stable.
“This can be seen when the State Government got the support of 44 assemblymen when there was an attempt to form a government through the back door before,” he said.
Nizam, who is also Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister and Apas Assemblyman, said this when met by the media after officiating the Basic Leadership Course for Grassroots Women and Political Leaders in Tawau on May 9. Also present were Sabah Women’s Advisory Council Chairwoman Datuk Dr Tarsiah TZ Taman and Apas Community Development Leader (PPM) M Azriansyah Ali.
Commenting further, Nizam said the State Government would not entertain political leaders who are only interested in themselves over the people’s interests and only want to continue to focus on developing Sabah and improving all deficiencies.
He said the Government has shown its ability in leading the State well and many more agendas have been planned so that Sabah continues to develop.
“I would like to advise the political leaders in the State not to play politics too much, to the point of forgetting their proper responsibilities for the welfare of the people and the development of the country,” he said.
On the programme, Nizam said the course attended by almost 100 women from Tawau, Kalabakan, Lahad Datu, Semporna, and Sandakan was very beneficial because it could give knowledge to women about their roles.
He said that the Government recognises women because they also help and play a role in the country’s development.
Therefore, he urged women to move actively with the existing leadership and government because their views are essential in developing the country.
“We want people out there to think that the women in this country are professionals capable of becoming respected political leaders,” he said.
