Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Ong Kim Swee has called on his players to be on their toes when Sabah FC take on Terengganu FC in the Super League tie at Likas Stadium tonight starting at 7.30pm.
He said the wounded east coast side who lost their last two matches to Pahang at home and away to Selangor FC might spring a surprise if they are not careful despite the home ground advantage.
“We cannot take it lightly when playing against Terengganu FC. They are still one of the best clubs in the competition despite their losses to Pahang and Selangor in the last two matches.
“We have to be wary of their threats and must maintain what we have done in the last three games to ensure that we continue to keep our unbeaten record here at Likas Stadium.
“It is very important for us not to lose points in the league especially playing at home with the support of the fans,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the team are hit by some injury problems to key players including Korean’s pair Park Tasu and Kwang Min Ko.
“Park and Kwang are still on the injury list together with a few others. We are still awaiting their status to see whether they will be eligible to start the match.
“No matter what, I believe the other players available are ready to grab the opportunity if they are to call upon for the game,” he said on Thursday.
Sabah FC have won their last two home league matches against Selangor FC (2-1) and Kelantan FC (6-1).
They are currently in fifth place with 20 points from six wins, two draws and two losses, while their opponents are lying in eighth place with four wins, one draw and five losses after 10 matches played.
They will next take on Perak FC at home on May 23 before facing Kuala Lumpur FC in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup competition also at Likas Stadium on May 28.
