TAWAU: Three suspected machete-armed robbers, aged between 38 and 42, have been detained here. 

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said all three had previous drug and criminal convictions. 

He said a tip-off led to the arrest of the trio at the Bandar Sri Indah Batu 10 parking lot at 4pm on Wednesday.

A Proton Persona believed to have been used in robberies was also seized. 

All three tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to Jasmin, authorities are also looking into whether the three were involved in the recent robbery at a home in Bandar Sri Indah Phase 3 and the attempted robbery in Balung early Thursday.
