Active women in local government impactful: Call to increase number of women councillors

Kota Kinabalu: The former MPKK head Datuk Adeline Leong, who chairs IDS Sabah, spoke up for the vital role of the fairer sex in Sabah’s local governance, and their great contributions in such positions.

IDS Sabah organised the “Seminar on Empowering Local Governance Through Inclusive and Collaborative Participation” at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort, recently.

In her welcoming speech, Leong said: “We must not overlook the participation of women in local governance. Women bring unique perspectives, experiences and skills that enrich the decision-making processes.
