Kota Kinabalu: A woman was found stabbed to death by a man, believed to be her former fiance, at a shopping centre in Jalan Haji Saman, here, Monday.
The body of the 22-year-old victim was found lying on the floor with stab wounds around noon.
City Police Deputy Chief Supt Kalsom Idris said a 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the incident.
She said a team from the Kota Kinabalu district Criminal Investigation Division rushed to the scene after the police were alerted.
“When the team arrived, the blood-stained victim was still breathing and medical officers immediately administered emergency aid. However, the victim succumbed to her injuries,” she said.
Police recovered a knife, believed used by the suspect in the murder, the motive of which is under investigation.
The body has been sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here for post-mortem.
Kalsom said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
