Kota Kinabalu: An Indonesian draftsman was on Thursday fined RM5,000 or six month’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for having a fake MyPR.
Ahmad Djasmail, 41, pleaded guilty before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having the fake document bearing the serial number 821107-61-4663 under his name at the Identification Card Division counter of the National Registration Department (NRD) here at 2.15pm on June 6.
The prosecution told the court that Ahmad was arrested while making an identification card check at the counter for having a dubious MyPR card.
Further check by the Department found that the serial number of Ahmad’s MyPR card did not exist in the NRD system.
The prosecution said Ahmad possessed a valid Indonesian passport.
Ahmad was charged under Regulation 25 (1) (e) Regulations National Registration 1990 (Amended 2007) which provides for a jail term of up to three years or fine or up to RM20,000 or both, on conviction.
The court ordered Ahmad to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter. NRD’s Mohd Naser Mohd Nadzeri prosecuted.
