Kota Kinabalu: The first Sabah History Symposium is scheduled to be held at the ITCC Mall in Penampang on June 24.
Council of the Justices of the Peace, Sabah (Majaps) President, Datuk Seri Clarence Malakun and ITCC Mall are co-sponsors of the event.
The goal is to raise awareness of the incomplete historical account of Sabah.
The symposium will cover topics of historical interest from the Penampang history of Odu Toila of Guunsing to personal stories of service in the police force in the 1970s till the 1980s fighting pirates on the East Coast of Sabah.
Other topics include the arrival of Sikhs in Sabah in 1868 and why the Sikhs had to leave Punjab, North India to serve as policemen in Borneo and the changing world of Mat Salleh in the late 19th Century.
The symposium will conclude with an in-depth explanation historically on 600 years of false historical claims and narratives by the defunct Sulu Sultanate and their alleged heirs.
Admission is free and strictly by online registration. A total of 300 people have registered attendance to date.
