KOTA KINABALU: A 31-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate's Court here with murdering a woman in a shopping centre here last month.
Chung King Fung @ Haider Daniel Chung Abdullah was brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles on Monday.
Chung, a company personal assistant, was accused of committing the offence to one Nurul Ain Silien, 21, between 12 noon and 12.20pm on May 29, at an outlet in a shopping mall, here.
The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty on conviction.
However, no plea was recorded from Chung after the charge was read out to him.
The Magistrate fixed July 11 for mention of the case.
Chung, represented by counsel Chin Tek Ming and Jul Hamri Jumhani, was ordered to be further remanded as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
Counsel Nabila Norsahar held a watching brief for the victim's family.
