Goods flood the BIMP-EAGA marts via Sabah
“BIMP-EAGA is about building economic progress through regional cooperation and integration. It is a shared economic development and poverty reduction strategy of the four member countries,” said Carl.
Kota Kinabalu: Cooking oil and noodle products from Sabah are reported to be popular in regional markets within the BIMP-EAGA as revealed at the Association of JCI Senators of the South East Asian Nations (Asean) business seminar, “Opportunities for BIMP-EAGA in Nusantara”, recently.

Such products are moved mainly by sea trade, and as Malaysia’s BIMP-EAGA Business Council Chairman Carl Moosom said, “Between Zamboanga to Sandakan, we also move between 40 to 70 TEUs (shipping containers).

“Sabah is the main gateway and Sandakan, Tawau ports each month will see between 400 to 500 TEUs ranging from rice, sugar, onions, flour imported from India, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam etc.”
