LABUAN: Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman said the Government should consider a modern, well-designed and spacious ro-ro ferry terminal to replace the existing one which can no longer handle the traffic since plans for a much-talked-about bridge has yet to materialise.
“The new terminal could be sited along the new 5.1km coastal road where land could be reclaimed and the distance between Labuan and Menumbok shortened with travel time reduced to about an hour from the present hour-and-half,” he said.
He noted that the new facility could become the economic icon of the island serving as an anchor for the development of other projects in the area, thus providing employment and economic spin-offs.
