Joyce wins women's overall title at the Singapore Strongest competition

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Joyce Heng continued her winning run in the new season by taking the women’s overall title at the Singapore Strongest competition held on June 17.

She accumulated a total of 214 points to win the women’s overall, women’s open and also the  women’s car deadlift title.

She managed to score 15 points in barrel squat (120kg), 28 points in incline log press (65kg), 135 points in tyre deadlift (250kg) and 36 points in hammer hold (7kg).

It was her second victory in the year following her success in the Kedah Strongest event in March.

Her next competition is the Indonesia Strongest Women to be held in Jakarta on August 20.

The 35-year-old had earlier said her main target this year is to compete in the Arnold European Strongwoman Championship scheduled from October 13-15 in Madrid, Spain.

She did not receive any financial assistance on her trip to Singapore but hoped the government would support her to Spain.

“This is a very huge international event with the presence of world top contenders and the last Arnold classic I competed was in 2018 in Africa where I managed to finish third.

“The cost will not be cheap and I hope the Youth and Sports Ministry will assist me financially to cover at least my flight fares and registration fees,” she said.
