SANDAKAN: Icomos Malaysia Children Art Competition 2023, jointly organised by Sandakan Heritage Trail Committee and Sandakan Library with the full support from Hotel Sandakan as the main venue sponsor, will be held on June 25.
Themed “Save Our Heritage”, it will also be held at Penang, KL, Melaka and Batu Pahat.
The district will host the event from from 8am to 2pm at Hotel Sandakan Ballroom.
According to the Founder and Chairman of Sandakan Heritage Trail, Lai King Hang, who is also a Board Member of Icomos Malaysia, the competition is divided into two categories: A (ages 7-9) and B (ages 10-12).
The event offers cash prizes of RM200 for first placing, RM150 (second), RM100 (third) and RM50 for five consolation prizes for winners in each category.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the diversity of the country’s heritage among school children also held in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of Sandakan Heritage Trail (2003-2023).
Icomos Malaysia is a network of multi-disciplinary professionals and individuals involved in the study and conservation of places with cultural heritage significance, nationally and internationally.
